Michael is Chairman and CEO of our parent company, Intersections Inc. (NASDAQ: INTX). He initiated R&D in 2011 that led to the creation of VOYCE. Michael is an avid dog lover with more than 30 years of executive leadership, corporate strategy and capital investing experience and provides strategic guidance to i4C. He resides in Virginia with his wife, extended family of horses and Labrador retrievers: Hektor and Argos; and has three successful grown daughters and two grandchildren.
Jeff brings a unique trifecta of experiences to i4C. During Jeff’s career spanning 20+ years, amongst other roles, he owned a nationally recognized dog training school – training presidential cabinet and celebrity dogs alike; led a team launching an innovative remote healthcare monitoring service; and helped build, sell and acquire a number of multinational technology companies. Drawing upon these experiences, Jeff was brought on to build a successful business from an R&D spawned idea. Jeff has owned both Labrador Retrievers and Mastiffs, and today his family includes Scout, an English Mastiff who joins Jeff at work daily.
Wendy is a founding member of i4C, joining after 7 yrs with i4C’s parent company, Intersections. She is responsible for operations, including marketing and sales operations, product management, customer experience, human resources and legal. Previously, Wendy served as Deputy General Counsel at Intersections and was also General Counsel for Identity Guard®. Her 19 year career has also included positions as corporate counsel at major telecommunication companies, and private practice at top law firms. She has a passion for Golden Retrievers and her family also includes a Bernese Mountain Dog.
Leveraging 20+ years' experience with tech start-ups, Dan heads-up Sales and Business Development efforts for i4C Innovations. Throughout his career Dan has successfully held sales leadership roles with tech companies like UUNET, Parallels, and RightScale while selling into key verticals like BioPharma and Media. Dan also has experience with major accounts such as Bayer, Eli Lilly, Sony and Amazon. While he's not working he enjoys time with his wife and three awesome girls.
Jason is a seasoned technology executive with more than 20 years of diverse experience in IT and Engineering. His background extends from working at Fortune-500 Corporations such as AOL/Time Warner and Acumen Solutions to launching brand-new technology start-ups. Jason leads an active life – he is passionate about wearable health technologies and the insights they provide. He’s excited to bring similar insights to dogs in order to help develop deeper relationships between pets and pet parents.
Emily oversees product management and various operations functions. Prior to i4C Innovations, Emily launched and managed new products and services for leading financial institutions such as Chase, Discover, CitiBank, and others. She gained expertise working with large data systems and building unique products for the consumer market. Emily dedicates the few non-working hours of her life to rescuing German Shepherds, and she has placed over 25 Shepherds into caring homes.
Ben has spent his career driving complex product and quality management initiatives, focusing on scalable Web and SaaS solutions for companies such as Exostar, The Corporate Executive Board, and USA Today. Ben was drawn to i4C because of the opportunity to be part of a talented organization that's delivering unique products to the marketplace, and firmly believes in the value that Voyce will bring to dogs and their owners.
Amanda is i4C’s resident veterinarian, and a resource for dog knowledge and clinical trial information. She provides expert insight into determining needs for data and educational content. She has insight into the veterinary industry, as well as the pet parent-dog-veterinary bond. Previously a Small Animal and Exotic vet, and a VCA Medical Director, Amanda still practices and volunteers, continuing her 13 years in practice. Amanda loves seeing pets, and the people who love them!
Paul is an electrical engineer with over 30 years of experience working with hardware, software, and system level projects at Texas Instruments, Lockheed Martin, Amnis Systems. For the last ten years, he has been developing non-invasive medical technology. His expertise is in embedded sensors, medical devices, radar, and video compression systems. He holds three patents and has a number of filings in process. His two dogs told him if he didn’t join the i4C team, they’d never talk to him again.
Mark is the Chief Corporate Development Officer and Chief Veterinarian at i4C Innovations’ partner, LifeLearn. Wanting to be a vet since he can remember, Mark realized his dream and graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph. After practicing veterinary medicine for over 8 years and owning and directing his own hospital, Mark joined the LifeLearn team in 1994. Mark has served in many roles, including over 12 years as President & CEO just before taking on the new challenge of Chief Corporate Development Officer. Mark lives in Oakville, Ontario with his wife, two children, and beloved golden retriever, Macey.
Adam is the Director of Innovation and Strategic Partnerships at i4C Innovations’ partner, LifeLearn. Adam is an entrepreneur whose passion to work on creative solutions for addressing human and animal health issues is reflected through his work with Veterinarians without Borders and the Global Initiative for Food Systems Leadership. Adam was also the first veterinarian to attend Singularity University's Graduate Studies program where he developed a deep understanding of the fast-moving technologies in the world and their impact on healthcare. Adam is working on how to utilize emerging sensor and monitoring technology to improve the health of pets.
Meet the Experts
Dr. Alexandra Horowitz
Dr. Horowitz is a professor of psychology at Barnard College in New York. She earned her Ph.D. in Cognitive Science and currently is studying dog play at Barnard's Horowitz Dog Cognition Lab. In addition to penning many scholarly articles relating to dog behavior and cognition, Horowitz is the author of Inside of a Dog, a NY Times best-seller, and writes regularly for The New York Times and other publications.
Dr. Andy Roark
Dr. Roark is a veterinarian, sought-after speaker, and author. He is a national award-winning columnist for DVM360, and writes regularly for Vetstreet. He also writes frequently for a number of other publications. Roark was named one of the “25 Veterinarians to Watch in 2013” by Veterinary Practice News. He was the National VBMA president in 2006.
Dr. Jessica Vogelsang
Dr. V is one of the most popular veterinarians on the web. A graduate of the prestigious UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine with experience in emergency and general practice, Dr. V started her award winning website Pawcurious as a way to share her love of animals with the world. An entertaining and informative voice in the pet world, Dr. V is a sought-after contributor in print, video and radio.
Cecelia achieved her CPDT-KA certification in 2003 and joined the Board of Directors for the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers in 2009. She opened Best Behavior Dog Training in 2002 where she teaches classes in pet dog manners and canine good citizen preparation. As a serial adopter with three rescues of her own, Cecelia also volunteers at her local Humane Society.
Dr. Tim Hunt
Dr. Tim is graduate of Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine and he opened Bayshore Veterinary Hospital in 1993 where he still practices full time. He was named the America’s Favorite Veterinarian in 2014 by the American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF). In addition to being a practicing veterinarian, Dr. Tim owns and runs Dr. Tim’s Pet Food Company that he started due to his passion for nutrition and to improve the overall health of animals. He also owns 35 Alaskan huskies and and he races sled dogs around the world, including the Iditarod.
Dr. Joseph J. Wakshlag
Dr. Wakshlag received his DVM and PhD from the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. He is a board certified diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Nutrition and a founding diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation. He currently is the owner of 8 dogs but his life is thoroughly controlled by his cat, Kermit.
Dr. Amy Mohl
Dr. Mohl received her DVM degree from Ohio State University. She completed an internship at Oradell Animal Hospital before entering private practice. Dr. Mohl is a regular contributor to Veterinary Team Brief magazine, and currently serves as the Interactive Medical Editor at Brief Media. Dr. Mohl and her family share their home in Washington, DC, with two goldendoodles, two cats, and a 3-legged box turtle.
Justine Lee, DVM, DACVECC, DABT
Dr. Lee is the CEO and founder of VetGirl, and is a board-certified veterinary specialist in both emergency critical care and toxicology. She is an internationally recognized speaker, and has published numerous textbooks, journal articles, and It's a Cat's World... You Just Live In It.
Marc Kraus, DVM
Marc Kraus, Diplomate ACVIM in cardiology and internal medicine, is on faculty at the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Kraus earned his DVM degree from the University of GA. He completed a small animal rotating internship at the Animal Medical Center in NYC and a cardiology residency at Cornell University. He lives in Ithaca, NY with his family. He shares his home with his two trouble-making dogs.
Dani McVety, DVM
Dr. McVety is a University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine graduate and is the youngest recipient of the college’s Distinguished Young Alumni Award (2013). She is not only a hospice veterinarian, but is also a speaker, consultant, author, and mother. With a deep love for the human-animal bond, Dr. McVety co-founded Lap of Love Veterinary Hospice, the first business of its kind dedicated to end of life care. With over 60 veterinary partners around the country, Lap of Love is the recognized industry leader, setting the standard for compassionate veterinary hospice services.
DR. DEBBIE GROSS
Debbie, a certified canine rehabilitation practitioner, has worked in the field of physical rehabilitation and conditioning for 20+ years. She is an internationally recognized writer, teacher and host, who helped establish many canine rehabilitation programs and currently owns Wizard of Paws Physical Rehabilitation. Debbie believes every dog deserves to live the best quality of life for the longest time possible.
Jenn is a national Pet Wellness & Lifestyle expert who resides in Tampa, FL with her husband, son, and their two rescued fur kids. In addition to owning her own holistic pet market, Wag, for nine years, Jenn launched a new destination for pet parents called ThePackMom.com. Jenn’s goal is to make life easier for pet parents by imparting her knowledge of pet wellness and lifestyle in an easy, entertaining and real way.
Lourdes has 40 years of experience training dolphins, primates, domestic and exotic animals. Her company Action Pack provides animal talent for production work. Lourdes is Lead Trainer/Spokesperson for Purina's Incredible Dog Challenge. She was inducted into the prestigious Ashley Whippet Hall of Fame. TV appearances include Late Night with David Letterman, Jay Leno, Cruisers Training Tips, Good Morning America, and Today.
Miriam is a professional animal trainer and writer. She has been passionate about animals her entire life and has dedicated her time to insuring others learn how to understand and communicate with their pets. Part of her work includes providing trained animals for media productions, such as feature films, television programs and advertisements. She also designs pet training tools which aid in training animals using humane and positive techniques. Miriam is active in canine performance competitions and is CEO of Shady Mountain Pet Retreat where pets can learn, play, and stay in a comfortable environment.
Aaron owns Pets in the City - one of the largest dog care companies in the country, catering to some of Hollywood’s biggest celebrities and athletes. A graduate of the renowned Karen Pryor Academy, Aaron is a licensed animal trainer specializing in dog behavior, agility and dog socialization. He nurtures his love of nature by working with exotic animals and marine life all over the world.
Dr. Ernie Ward
Dr. Ward is the founder of Seaside Animal Care (a National Practice of Excellence Award Winner), the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention, and is a co-founder of VetPartners and the International Veterinary Senior Care Society. Dr. Ward is an Editorial Advisory Board Member for Veterinary Economics and has authored and/or featured in over 70 practice management and medical journal articles. He is a regular guest on the Rachael Ray Show and has appeared on Animal Planet, NBC Nightly News, and CNN, to name a few. He was awarded "Speaker of the Year" awards at both the North American and Western Veterinary Conferences.
Dr. Robin Downing
Dr. Downing is the Director of The Downing Center for Animal Pain Management, LLC. She is a founder of the International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management. Dr. Downing is a certified Veterinary Pain Practitioner, veterinary acupuncturist, Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner, Tui Na practitioner, and is certified in both canine medical massage and animal chiropractic. She is one of a handful of veterinarians to hold two human pain management credentials (the Diplomate credential in the American Academy of Pain Management and is a Certified Pain Educator with the American Society of Pain Educators).
Dr. Gary Landsberg
Dr Landsberg is a 1976 graduate of the Ontario Veterinary College, and is board certified in veterinary behavior by both the ACVB (American College) and the ECAWBM (European College), and he currently practices at the North Toronto Veterinary Behaviour Specialty Clinic. He is a consultant for Veterinary Information Network and Vice President, Veterinary Affairs and Product Development at CanCog technologies. Dr. Landsberg is a frequent speaker and a published author. In 2000 he received the AAHA “Friskies” Companion Animal Behavior Award and in 2014 the meritorious service award from Western Veterinary Conference.
Dr. Debra Horwitz
Dr. Horwitz received her DVM from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine, is a diplomate and past president of the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists and practices behavioral medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. She lectures frequently in North America and abroad and is a behavioral consultant for the Veterinary Information Network. In 2012 and 2104, North American Veterinary Conference participants voted her Small Animal speaker of the year. She is a published author of numerous books, and is the lead editor of Decoding your Dog, a book for pet owners and written by members of the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists.
Dr. Lynn Buzhardt
Dr. Buzhardt is a graduate of Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine and co-owns a practice with her husband in Zachary, Louisiana. Dr. Buzhardt is a published author, and has served as national spokesperson for major animal health companies on key issues of concern to pet owners working with major news outlets including TV, radio and print media. In addition to regionally focused media work, her national credits include the The View, The Today Show, NBC Nightly News, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, Parents Magazine, and Ladies Home Journal, just to name a few.
Dr. Jan Bellows
Dr. Bellows received his DVM from Auburn University. After completing a small animal internship at The Animal Medical Center in New York City, he returned to south Florida where he still practices companion animal medicine, surgery and dentistry at ALL PETS DENTAL in Weston, Florida. He is doubly certified by the Board of Veterinary Practitioners (canine and feline) since 1986 and the American Veterinary Dental College since 1990. Dr. Bellows is a published veterinary dentistry author and he frequent contributes to DVM Newsmagazine and a charter consultant of Veterinary Information Network’s (VIN) dental board.
